Slicethepie Update

Slicethepie is no longer the nice money maker it used to be. The payment for 3, 4, and 5 star scouts has been reduced to £0.06, £0.07, and £0.10 per track. That’s ok, but 1 and 2 star scouts now earn vouchers. If your only intention of joining Slicethepie is to ear money, I would give it a miss for now.

I told you in my last post I’d have some money makers for you that I didn’t earn anything for you signing up for.

Well here’s one. And you haven’t got to pay me to tell you about it. Stop looking on Ebay for “how to make money on the internet”!

Slicethepie is a web site that pays you to review music by unsigned artists.

You will like this if you are interested in listening to music. There’s a wide variety of music. Some you will like, some you will hate, depending on your own taste. A lot of it is actually very good.

The amount you get paid per track depends on your scout rating. You start off at one star rating and can work your way up to five stars.

One star earns £0.03 per track

Two stars earns £0.05 per track

Three stars earns £0.07 per track

Four stars earns £0.09 per track

Five stars earns £0.12 per track

Your scout rating increases with your review accuracy over a number of reviews. It’s easy to go from one star to two but gets increasingly more difficult to go up to the next levels. If your reviews consist of just one word such as good, bad, rubbish, etc, you probably won’t get past one star.

What Slicethepie want is a review with some thought that will actually help the artist. Criticism is allowed as long as it’s constructive. If you think a song is good, why? If you think a song is bad, why? What are the good and bad parts of the song? What did you like about it and what didn’t you like about it?

It’s as easy as that.

How much money can you earn?

Let’s assume you reach two star scout rating, which should be pretty easy, and earn £0.05 per track. You have to listen to each song for one minute before you can review it.

You will probably be slow to start with while you are getting used to it so we’ll say you review ten songs an hour. That works out at £0.50 an hour. Do this for one hour five days a week (take a break the weekend), that’s £2.50 a week. After two weeks, you reach the minimum £5.00 to get paid into your Paypal account. That’s an extra ten pounds each month.

I know that’s well below the minimum working wage but you will soon learn to speed your reviews up. Think about what you are going to type while you are listening to the song. One minute to listen to the song and say one minute to type your review. That then becomes thirty reviews an hour, or £1.50 an hour, or £30 each month for just one hour a day listening to music.

If you like listening to music and have more than one hour to spare each day, you can earn a lot more. Some people do spend a few hours every day doing this. If you reach a higher scout rating, which many people do, again your earnings will be a lot more.

Remember though, Slicethepie isn’t just about earning money. It’s as much about the music. If you don’t like listening to music, don’t even visit the site!
